Create a Profile

Before you can do anything with vFlow, you need to create a Profile to use to capture information about Activities.

When you select the Profiles option, you will be able to select a New Profile, you just need to give it a name. You will then see it appear in your list of profiles.

You can share your profile with other users on your account, and they can share their profiles with you. These will be shown under the Account Profiles tab.

Once you have activities in your Profile you can share it using the Share button. Once shared the profile can later be Unshared, although be aware that if other people are using a profile that you unshare they will still be able to use the one that they have on their tablet, they just will not be able to update it.

To remove a profile you can click on the button. You can only remove a Profile that is not Shared. If you remove a Profile, any user that may have a copy on their device will still be able to use that, but they will not be able to update it. Any studies that exist using the Profile will remain, the Profile data is retained in the background.

The Clone option allows you to create a new Profile based on the Profile you have selected Clone on. A Cloned profile will be created in your list of Profiles.

Once you have a Profile you can use the Tablet device to capture data for that Profile, see more about that here. Once you have a Study completed, in order to upload it to the system you will need a Project to place it in.

Build your Profile

To add or edit a profile, select the profile by clicking on the Profile card.

You will see the profile title at the top of the page, you can edit this by clicking on it and changing it.

Add activities to your profile by giving the activity a name and selecting Add. Your activity will be added with a default category of 'Core'. You can change the category via the drop-down menu when you click on it.

Activity colors

When reporting studies the charts will use the colors assigned to the activity. By default, these match the category color (which is assigned at the Account level), but you can change it via the colour drop-down.

Alternatively, when you have added all your Activities to the profile, you can use the Auto-colour option , to automatically set all activities in each category to a different shade of the main category color. Note: if you have many Activities some shades will repeat themselves.

You can edit an Activity Name by click on it. You can change the order of the activity within the profile by dragging and droping it within the list.

If you want to remove the activity from the profile then select the , but remember if you or anyone else has previously downloaded the profile to a device, you will need to refresh the profile on that device to reflect any changes.

Value Types

Here you can set what types of Quantitative information studies using this profile can capture. The available types are defined at the Account level and there always needs to be at least one. You can change the order in which they appear by dragging and dropping the types in the list.

You can add types if they are available using the option. Remove them again using the .

You can set a single Value Type as a per-item or a resource count (although an item can be set as both this would not make logical sense). When you do this certain effort calculations will be done for you on exported data.

  • Per-item : Will provide a timing divided by the count value when one is present, giving you the actual time 'per item' as well as the overall timing for the activity.
  • Resource count : Will provide a timing multiplied by the count value when one is present, giving you the actual effort expended on an activity as well as the overall timing for the activity.

Comment Types

Here you can set what types of Qualitative information studies using this profile can capture. The available types are defined at the Account level and there always needs to be at least one. You can change the order in which they appear by dragging and dropping the types in the list.

You can add types if they are available using the option. Remove them again using the .

When displaying the overview pie-chart report there is the opportunity to 'pop-up' comments gathered under these types. Here you can configure whether a comment type is included on that chart or not using the 'Popup on Chart' setting.

Create a Project

All the captured data in vFlow needs to sit within a Project.

When you select the Projects option, you will be able to select a New Project, you just need to give it a name. You will then see it appear in your list of projects.

You can find out more about managing projects here.
